the win number and times played numbers are correct, e.g.: "1 Games • 1 Victories • 300% wins "
plover.com/~mjd/misc/yahtzee-screenshot.png
It says: “20 Games • 15 Victories • 78% wins”.
15/20 is 75%, not 78%.
The phrasing and placement of the message are extremely confusing. What if you formatted it something like this?
20 Games • 15 Victories (75%) • 15½ VP (0.78 VP/g)
This makes clear that the 78 is not a victory percentage. You could link the “VP” text to go to the paragraph of the FAQ that explains it.
But the wording is misleading (because it's not a % of wins at all, it can go well above 100 !), and the maths are weird. It awards 2 points for winning a 4-player game and 1 point for winning a 2-player game. But since you need to beat 3 opponents instead of one, it makes more sense to consider a 4-player game 3 times harder to win than a 2-player game.
I sugeest replacing this calculation by something more straightforward : number of opponents who finished behind you in games / total number of opponents.
This would reflect how often you beat your opponents, and would really be a % since it can only go between 0 and 100.
Agree with junibegood’s suggestion.
e.g. If you come 1st in any game that should be a maximum of 1 win. 2nd in a 4P game you should get 0.67 wins for it, etc.

=> I can't upload a picture but the percentage of winning is completely incorrect, in all games i have ever played. Sometimes > 100%
But I do remember to win a game
i.postimg.cc/bvmJH6D7/bug-report-for-BGA.png
The text says:
"Carcassonne: Hunters & Gatherers. 1 Games • 1 Victories • 250% wins
Sapiens. 2 Games • 1 Victories • 100% wins". "
Either the ratio of 'wins' is wrongly calculated or this should not be called 'wins' and it should not be showed as a percent. Showing '250%' on the screen looks really bad.
junibegood’s suggestion above makes sense for the actual percentage, but the name 'wins' would still be confusing. I would suggest a straightwoforward "Ended ahead of xx% of opponents".
A 'win' is the act of being the winner in a game, regardless of number of players, difficulty, or whatever. If one calls it 'wins', it should measure wins. If this statistic measures something else, it should be called something else. :-)
I've won 2 games out of 3 but it says I've won 0 games and my game points don't go up.
Here I uploaded my scores and most of them are incorrect (marked red):

But, the current system is not good either, since i will show ratings above 100% and because of this it is very hard to know what is actually calculated.
My suggestion is to calculate it as [number of opponents that I finished better than] / [total number of opponenets]. This way the number will take the player count into consideration and the number will be kept between 0 and 100.

1. Wins in training mode do count, while total games don't (so one win in training mode and one in normal... is 2 wins out of one game)
2. AFAIK listed number of wins is for actual game victories, while calculated is for effective duels.
Example: You have played one game, with 4 players, and You came out second.
Results would be: 0 victories (You wasn't first), but 200% victory rate (because You won vs 3rd and 4th player... so that's 2 _effective_ victoires out of one game, 200% all right).
I agree it would be nice to normalize the above :) (eg. by using the same basis for both number of victories and number of games shown, as well as percentages) - but it's not quite as errorneus as it seems :)
Create two percentages so that the numbers make more sense.
raw percentage: # games won / # games played
weighed percentage: current percentage calculation
OR just list "weighed percentage"
There are 2 issues at play here:
1) The Number of Games played and Wins that is displayed to you
2) How the "X% of wins" is calculated
1) First is the "X Games" • "X Victories" stat" -> THIS for whatever reason counts the games you play in Friendly mode, but does not count the Victories from that mode.
As an easy example I can use my Ark Nova stats: 7 games played 0 wins - In reality I have played 6 friendly games, out of witch I have won 5 and abandoned 1 (because we wanted to change settings)
I would suggest that Friendly games are not displayed in the "X Games" • "X Victories" stat as such
• Could be displayed for example in this way "0 Games(+6) • 0 Victories"
On a side note, abandoned games are also counted as "Games played" and as a Victory/Lose -> I think this should be changed so that it's not counted if the game ends before "X mins or X% game completed". Obviously the person leaving would still get Karma penalty, but it wouldn't count as game played or win if this happens at the start of the game.
2) As people have pointed out, currently the "X% of wins" is not same as Win Rate, rather it's like a "weighed performance" score based on the number of players you played with.
I would suggest that we change it so that there is just 1 simple number that is an actual Win Rate based on Games player (normal mode/ranked) and Wins.
+there can be additional "Performance Score" next to it, for example if you always place 2nd on a 4 player game, you would still have performance score of 75%, even tho your Win rate is 0%.
The sheer number of posts in this and other related threads should be taken as evidence that the system (1) is not well understood (2) makes no darn sense (3) is not liked. It would be great if the feedback was heard and changes were made.
My contention is that:
1. The stats on the prestige page show the total number of all games that were not abandoned, but the number of wins for ranked games only. Pick one or the other, or use the bracket format used on the game page. The % wins is meaningless. The FAQ referring to % hits is not useful.
2. The stats on the game page are fine (yay)
3. The stats on the gamestats page show the incorrect number of victories (this is a bug)
My evidence for this below:
Barrage actual results
* Won 3 ranked games
* Won 3 unranked games
* Conceded 3 * solo games
Barrage expected stats by page
* Prestige: 3 Games (+6) • 3 Victories • 100% wins
* Game: 3 Games (+6) 3 Victories
* GameStats: 9 tables found Victories: 6
Barrage displayed stats by page
* Prestige: 9 Games • 3 Victories • 33% wins (misleading)
* Game: 3 Games (+6) 3 Victories (ok)
* GameStats: 9 tables found Victories: 9 (wrong)
Tapestry actual results
* Won 2 and lost 1 ranked game
* Won 19 and lost 8 solo games
* Abandoned 5 solo games
Tapestry expected stats by page
* Prestige: 3 Games (+27) • 2 Victories • 67% wins
* 3 Games (+27) 2 Victories
* GameStats: 35 tables found Victories: 21
Tapestry displayed stats by page
* Prestige: 30 Games • 2 Victories • 8% wins (misleading)
* 3 Games (+27) 2 Victories (ok)
* GameStats: 35 tables found Victories: 29 (wrong)
Now I realise this thread is old. That this has all been said before. That I wasted a lot of time writing this. But perhaps maybe someone might realise that the only reason someone would spend their time writing a report like this is because the system is not working as it should. And that it should change. Thanks for your consideration.
Any game in Training Mode should be ignored for the calculation of the win rate.
Also, have win percentage be games won regardless of number of opponents and have a separate performance win percentage in parenthesis that shows what you’re currently showing.
2 games played, 1 victory, 50% wins
but under that statistics it shows only 1 game played before the one I am playing so
statistics consider the game I am playing like it have already been lost so please fix this enormous problem.
Thanks
Please could they have a defined order (maybe alphabetical or decreasing ELO) and you could also add options for the user to change the sort order (Name, ELO, No of plays, No of victories, etc).
Given so many people are raising it as a "bug", perhaps BGA need to help out some of us that don't realise there is "hover text" available. For example, an asterisk could be placed after the percentage, or perhaps a dedicated button on the side called "Percentage Explanation" that explains how the percentages are clarified.
For Captain Flip:
Normal games: won 325 of 488 = 66.5%
With friendly games: won 415 of 624 = still 66.5%
It shows a win percent of 60%
My Patchwork win percent shows as 77% and I’m a top 10 ranked player with almost a 90% win percentage if you include friendly or not.
I played 2 ranked, one friendly game, won 3 out of 3, still my win percentage is below 100%...
I understand that BGA has a way to calculate victories in games with 3 players and above, but for 2-player games, this should be easy maths, so something doesn't work as it should - or the system to calculate victory percentage is flawed
I totally agree that the current way of counting should be absolutely changed, because it makes very little sense: a person who played 1000 games 2-player games and won every single one of them would have 100% games won, and a person who played 333 4-player games and won 166 of them, being the last one in the remaining games will also have 100% games won. And both the players faced about 1000 opponents, with the first one beating all of them and the second one beating about 500 of them and loosing to the rest, they have the same stats.
But I get that the whole thing requires more time and consideration. Perhaps you could just change it so that the friendly games and solo games aren't counted towards the number of games played when counting win%? You display the number of the rest games separately, so it is already calculated and I bet implementing this change would be just changing one variable in the formula for win% for another variable that you already have.
