I've been playing a lot of Can't Stop in the final days of this arena season. A 2-player game typically takes ~5-10 minutes to play, even in a turn-based mode. There's absolutely no reason that short games shouldn't be able to do turn-based in the final days of the season, as long as the sum of all players' turn timers does not extend past the end of the Arena Season.
For example: with Can't Stop, a "slow" real-time game gives you only 7 minutes to play. That is not enough time to deal with a doorbell or phone call that might happen unexpectedly during the middle of a game. Because of this, I have always played turn-based, until I recently got into arena.
The fastest turn-based speed, 24 moves per day, says game duration estimate of ~15.3 hours. If there are 5 days left in the Season, that means you could still play a good 7-8 games back to back before the Season ends without any risk of a game not ending before the end of the Season.
Why, on short games like this, are we forced into playing in real-time, which doesn't allow you to have even a brief distraction? There's absolutely no reason for it. The difference on the turn timer between the slowest real-time and fastest turn-based is so significant that even if it meant just adding more real-time options, like a 15min/player slowest real-time option to short games, that there would be way, way less stress playing arena games in the final days. -
